First day Edinburgh to Newcastle

It’s been an interesting start to an interesting trip. Setting finally off at 9.30am I was a wee bit behind schedule, but in good spirits. I got myself a good coffee and read the article in The Herald, there was no way back now! The first kilometres were a slog through Edinburgh, but this time I found the right roads and didn’t mess around. The odd snow shower did concern me first, but soon I was to find out that the weather was doing a great job. The only thing that was a worry that one of the bolts on the rear wheel was coming loose, so the wheel almost got stuck in the frame. I recognized early enough to prevent any damage. The rest of the day was dominated by riding through scenic winter landscapes, and the last 40 km in pitch black conditions. I survided all of it, 176k in the trip I am tired and
happy.
