Inspiration from my first talk
So Wednesday was the day; I was on stage for the first time since ages. And I loved it, anything else would have surprised me anyway. I inspired some people in the audience, and the feedback after the talk was really supportive. It was great to share the memories, even though I would have needed two days to do that properly. And you, my humble audience of 28, inspired me as well. I was planning on taking the train last night to get back from Stirling to Edinburgh after a long day of working and fixing problems along the way. The original plan, as I had my road bike still at work, was to cycle back and do the last few miles in the dark. But at 8.00pm when I finished there was no daylight left. And it was cold and foggy as well. I was almost ready to take my bike on the train, but I finally remembered that I had bought my new Lupine Piko lights for a reason: to overcome my resistance riding in the dark. 2.5 hours later I found myself in front of my house in Edinburgh without a single mile travelled on the train. I was happy, and it was an fantastic experience as well. Riding though the calmness of the night was another one of those special experiences that make experiments like this worthwhile. My audience, you inspired me to push the barriers even further after riding on a singlespeed to Germany. Thank you for that!
I am also looking into developing the talk further, so if you know venues around Scotland that might be interested in hosting me, please email me at markus (dot) stitz (at) gmail (dot) com. More information on the talk can be found here For now a good weekend, mine will be spent riding. Where? Not sure yet, life is too short to spend time making plans.
