Television, exploring new bikepacking trails and a wonderful tree house
Last week was pretty eventful! I enjoyed a few days off in Germany, but kept myself pretty busy at the same time.
Thursday I filmed a 4 minute piece for MDR television with Stefan Ganß, who already covered my trip on MDR Jump when I was over last time. We had a lot of fun, Stefan rode a Surly Krampus and I was on a Surly Wednesday, as it would have been too difficult flying my bike over for the day. You can watch the final result here in German, fast forward to 21:40 if you can’t wait. If you don’t speak German, have a look at the pictures. And as we are mostly laughing, this short trailer speaks a universal language:
Talking about the bike I took around the world, which is currently on display at Craigdon Mountain Sports in Edinburgh. So if you would like to have a look, you still have the opportunity until next Monday, the dirt is still on there! Before I take the bike home to my new flat I will do a live video on Facebook on Monday 7 Nov at 6.30pm GMT, make sure you like my page and tune in.
But back to Germany. On Friday I used the opportunity still having a Surly Wednesday to play around with, and I am chuffed with the result, which you can watch below. I am tossing the idea of developing a bikepacking route in Germany around in my head, similar to the Capital Trail, and the analytics on YouTube show that it is actually a great idea to get foreign visitors to the German federal state I grew up in, so stay tuned!
The rest of the weekend I had the chance to take things a bit more easy, staying in a wonderful treehouse with my family. I have stayed in many places before, but the Hotel Seemühle near Gräfendorf was one of the best places, highly recommended. And staying at a treehouse in Autumn in the Spessart in Germany is awesome, the changing colours of the leaves made for beautiful pictures as we all enjoyed the sunshine over the three days. If you like, here is a selection of my images from the weekend.
