Pictures from a great long weekend in Sweden, exploring Kalmar & Öland. The agricultural landscape in the south of the island was surreal - especially when I went for a gravel ride early in the morning with the fog obscuring the sun, everything covered in beautifully spun spiderwebs. Sweden’s cycling infrastructure is superb - we loved discovering the island on a tandem. This place well & truly is worth the World Heritage site status. One for the bucket list, highly recommended!

Cycling on the wild side of Scotland takes much longer than expected. This was a tough ride/hike with @jamesl_w & @mrmarkbeaumont - fantastic team work to get to Britain’s remotest pub. You’ll see more soon on GCN. This is a route that wouldn’t make it into any of my books though (: But Knoydart was a superb adventure!

This Yorkshire coo was enjoying the heather. I did enjoy the cycling across the moors on @routeyc - 4 days #bikepacking packed full of beautiful landscapes, nice places to stay & eat and great roads & tracks. It’ll take a wee while but the route I’m working on should be live in late 2023 or early 2024.

Bikepacking 390km along the beautiful Yorkshire Coast & beyond. After two days scouting a gravel bikepacking version of @routeyc I’m really happy with what I have discovered so far. This is different from the routes I mapped so far, cycling here is a great way to discover the varied landscapes, the architecture & chat to the friendly people. I’m looking forward to the next two days, which will be hillier!

If you ask me for my favourite place in Scotland - this is it. From the berry paradise in the south to the mountains of the Cairngorms - the Cateran Ecomuseum provides a spectacular backdrop for a new @dirtdash_cc in 2.5 weeks. Let’s hope the weather is as fair as last Sunday when I recced the two day route in a day.

Scotland at its best and worst (for cycling) - beautiful contrasts one moment - torrential rain at the other. Mudguards on the rear were properly used today. My short trip to the Cateran Ecomuseum was great, nice to have this as the host for our next @dirtdash_cc event in August. There are loads of great cycling routes here, two bikepacking routes in ‘Bikepacking Scotland’ include the ‘museum without walls’, and two routes in ‘Great British Gravel Rides’ too. And those strawberries are seriously tasty ….

A bit more than 2 weeks ago I set off on a bikepacking trip around the Gaspesie Peninsula in Quebec. I’ll share words and hopefully a film as well, but here are some of my favourite pictures from the journey. I really enjoyed to explore the history of this part of Canada on two wheels. The people in Quebec are incredibly friendly & curious and I sampled great food along the way. My route can be found as inspiration on @komoot - but I’ll also tweak some bits around to fine tune it soon. Watch this space! #bikepacking #canada #quebec

Monday inspiration. The journey here was an adventure in itself, and I just managed to get the first ride in in Gaspe, which will be my base for a few weeks.

Happy! Just back from Ayr, launching a new film for @southayrshirepathsinitiative - The Culzean Way. This is the first step to engage the community and raise awareness of the plans to bring this dismantled railway line back to life. If it becomes reality, this route will be a strong contender for one of the most beautiful cycle journeys in the world. It would have been rude not to take the Kinesis G2

It would have been rude not to take the Kinesis G2 out for a quick test ride before the Dorset Dirt Dash. Great to see @kinesisbikes_uk supporting the event. And as I couldn’t take my own bike down, they paired me with the G2 for the weekend. The scenery & gravel tracks here are nothing short of spectacular. Lens duty tomorrow at @dirtdash_cc - really looking forward to it. Thanks also to @schwalbetyresuk & @komoot for supporting grassroots gravel & bikepacking.
